Realistic possible replacements for BFS
If the club decide not to renew BFS's contract, who are the REALISTIC replacements?

The owners appear to prefer a manager who's established themselves at club level in England (or Scotland). So forget Billic. As they gear up for the OS move, the squad is getting better, so they'll be looking for a manager with the appropriate calibre.

If Pellegrini leaves Man City, would they consider him? I guess they would, but I'm not convinced by him. Could be another Avram Grant. Even BFS could win the league with City's squad.

Hoddle's been out of management for too long.

Eddie Howe. Ready for a move up, but still a risk due to lack of Premier League experience. Might get overlooked if Bournemouth don't get promoted.

Ancelotti? If the current European champions don't win a trophy this year, he'll be looking for a new job. Knows the Premier League from Chelsea.

Steve McLaren. Turned us down once already. Is he that much better than BFS?

Thoughts?

I honestly don't think this thread has been done already.

How could it have been? For the last few years the angel argument has always been that NOBODY has been able to suggest a replacement.

How about Koeman?

No PL experience, sacked Fuck knows how many times.

Pochettino.

How many times has Allardyce got the bullet? I make Bolton the only top flight team not to sack him.

Apart from us.

Re: Realistic possible replacements for BFS
Actually Eerie maybe you are right. I mean Bilic has 2.5 seasons experience as a club manager. One sacking and no trophies and no experience in english football as a manager.

Allardyce must feel so inadequate with only 20 years experience plus trophies. Don't tell Real Madrid or Chelsea about Bilic otherwise we will never get him...

Hold on a minute.

From what you've just typed there, all 3 of the managers you used as examples, are better options than Allardyce, going by your criteria.

Glad we've cleared that up.

Re: Realistic possible replacements for BFS
I do partly agree that if Bilic hadn't been a player here he wouldn't be so high up peoples lists, but to compare him with Strachan and McLeish is just plain idiotic.

Re: Realistic possible replacements for BFS
Ah ok

I just hate the idea that we have to go for an 'available' manager.

The best managers usually have clubs. My first choice would be to test the water with Brendon Rodgers.

I don't think there is a massive chance of getting him, but I don't like the mentality of we're poor little West Ham we have no chance. You never know what is going on behind the scenes at Liverpool.

If when you have tested the water you think there is no chance, you move on to the next (De Boer hopefully). But if you get a glimmer that if the right offer came in there was a slight possibility he would come you then decide just how much of heaven and earth you will move to get a man whose football philosophy is exactly what (i hope) we are looking for.
